Genesis Technology USA are an international supplier of connectors and printed circuit board components for such everyday products as TVs, set-top boxes, wireless routers, and mobile phones.

When Genesis first contacted Documentopia, they had a “business card” website.  Over 3 years and several phases of work, Documentopia and Genesis have worked together to create a huge products-based site offering clients, engineers, and sales representatives various tools for their own needs.

Content-Management System - The website is database driven with 2 databases controlling the product categories and products themselves respectively.  Genesis can open a file in a spreadsheet program, like Excel, and make changes to their lists (update engineers drawings, change names, delete or add products, and so on) and upload the new database to the site, in mere minutes.

Custom Menus and Navigation Systems – With so many products and various types of users, the challenge was to help everyone who came to the site, with varying levels of understanding of Genesis, to find the product and information they required.  A powerful search engine on every page solves the problem of those who know exactly what they want – either with product number, name, or description. 

For those who need to browse categories, a flexible drop down side menu on the home page provides an effective way to navigate the site.  For those trying to get  broad view of Genesis and what they do, the teardowns (what’s inside) feature is not only a great visual way to understand how Genesis components integrate with everyday products, but also a way to find the exact component you need.

Triple Language Site – Genesis operates worldwide but has offices, sales representatives and clients heavily centered in China.  The website has 3 translation modes: English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.

Custom Web Applications – some of the Genesis components feature user-selected colors and size combinations. Documentopia created a custom web application for the user to create their own color scheme of various parts and produce a mechanical drawing and unique ordering part number for their selection.

Product Photography - As part of the huge task of cataloging the Genesis components onto the website, Documentopia underwent a large and ongoing project of photographing each component to clearly display its characteristics to the web visitor.
